HMS Career Opportunities |
Opportunity Snapshot
As Senior Auditor, you understand that the world does not belong to managers who can make the numbers dance, but to passionate leaders who have mastered the art of getting extraordinary achievement from ordinary people. You make a practice of being accessible to your team and take tremendous pride in your work ethic, bias for self-action and compulsion to share as you energize those whom you lead. . .
Now is the time to join HMS, a company rich with opportunity. Not only are we the undisputed industry leader in coordination of benefits & program integrity services for government healthcare programs, but with Medicaid spending projected to double in ten years, we are uniquely positioned to capitalize on this billion dollar market.
Overseeing a team of ten staff auditors, you will manage a variety of desk and field-based audits with Medicaid and other state and federal healthcare agencies. To be a good fit for this opportunity you will leverage your leadership track record and healthcare auditing expertise to optimize our environment and push us to the next level. You will bring solid expertise with Generally Accepted Government Auditing Standards, Generally Accepted Accounting Principles, and/or the International Standards for the Professional Practice of Internal Auditing. You will also have the ability to understand and follow company policies and procedures to review working papers and mentor/train junior auditors as needed. Of course, as in any role that requires collaboration with such diverse stakeholders, you'll take a proactive and innovative approach to building strong relationships and maintaining high levels of communication.
Since 1985 HMS has focused exclusively on the healthcare industry. Since then, we have partnered with more than 45 Medicaid agencies, other state health programs, and more than 50 government-sponsored healthcare plans to help them recover billions of dollars, and save billions more through cost avoidance. In spite of the economic downturn, healthcare has proven to be a recession resilient sector and we have posted 18% growth year over year since 2001. Notwithstanding, the current growth and potential future market opportunities, HMS still maintains an entrepreneurial small-company culture in which individuals can make a difference and shape their own career trajectories.
What Else You'll Bring to the Table
What's in It for You
More About Your Role
You will report directly (and become the right-hand person) to the Audit Manager as you take oversight of the day-to-day audit operations off the Audit Manager's plate and model the right leadership style to get the most out of the audit team.
Since our division is an evolving environment, some of your key challenges are to figure out and develop new processes, as well as understand the nuances of our business. You'll be able to "zoom in" to learn about our organization at a granular level, and then "zoom out" again to a strategic level to analyze and see opportunities for improvements.
You'll concurrently manage 5-10 field and desk audits as you effectively prioritize and complete work within stringent deadlines. In general, your responsibilities include:
Keys to Success
Technical horsepower, an inquisitive mind and an endless supply of fresh ideas will serve you well in this role, but it is your leadership prowess and ability to know your team's emotional makeup to collectively move them in the direction of HMS's goals that will push you over the top.
You will also showcase the power of personal engagement as you forge strong working relationships with senior level managers, hospital CEOs and healthcare provider staff. Of course, as in any new operation, you will unleash your entrepreneurial spirit as you independently manage multiple initiatives in a deadline-driven environment.
You'll also remain flexible and see beyond the given, in unstructured or ambiguous situations, as you support diverse stakeholders and easily adjust to the evolving needs of the business.
