HMS is pleased to offer graduate students an opportunity to complement their formal education with a career-related experience. As an intern, you may increase your skills and knowledge and apply theoretical concepts to the actual work environment. 

We have the following PAID part-time (20 hrs/week) internship opportunity immediately available in our Washington D.C. office.
Perform duties to support the HMS Government Relations team.  This internship position will be primarily responsible for providing assistance to the Government Relations team and will serve as a resource for monitoring, tracking and analyzing legislative and regulatory issues that impact HMS’ business.  The position will offer unique opportunities to gain valuable work experience and knowledge of Congress and the Federal and state governments. 

The internship is open to qualified students who demonstrate good oral and written communication skills and have a genuine interest in the field of government relations, specifically healthcare.  Candidates should also possess excellent research skills, and should be familiar with the legislative process. 
 

Candidates must be currently enrolled in a graduate level program and be located in Washington D.C. to be considered for this part-time internship.
 

Duties and Responsibilities:
  1. The role will be primarily responsible for monitoring, tracking and analyzing legislative and regulatory healthcare issues and performing market research.
  2. Responsible for ad-hoc administration and organization projects for the Government Relations team.
 Knowledge/Skills Required:
  • Must be a graduate student
  • Fields of Study: Public Policy, Law, Political Management or related fields are preferred
  • Must be proficient in Microsoft Office products
  • Strong analytical and research skills
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills
  • Understanding of the legislative process
